Free Snack Packs and More at Archway http://www.glasshousecollective.org/free-snack-packs-archway/ http://www.glasshousecollective.org/free-snack-packs-archway/#respond Tue, 24 Mar 2020 20:41:31 +0000 http://www.glasshousecollective.org/?p=6180 In response to the current public health situation our neighborhood partners at Archway have stepped up along with other community volunteers and donors to fill a great need in our neighborhood right now as best they can.

If you or someone you know is hungry and without food you can stop by Archway any day this week between the hours of 11 am-2 pm to pick up a free sack lunch while supplies last. There will also be free individually wrapped snacks and fresh fruit. Come by and see what else is available as some unexpected donations come in from day to day that will also be made available to those in need right now.

From our Board Member and Archway director, Carlos Hampton, “I am so proud to be a part of a network of organizations and community leaders that are able to band together in an effort to see and be a part of the big picture. This is larger than us, but we can definitely get more done together. This is Chattanooga.”

This is first come and first served and while supplies last. We will keep this info updated as the circumstances change. For now please take advantage of this generous open door this week (3/23-3/27).

Archway is located at 2523 Glass Street next to our pocket park and across the street from the free wifi hot spot.

Please use this list of helpful links for other community resources available this time.

Hamilton County School Delivering Student Meals http://www.glasshousecollective.org/hamilton-county-school-student-meals/ http://www.glasshousecollective.org/hamilton-county-school-student-meals/#respond Tue, 24 Mar 2020 20:19:36 +0000 http://www.glasshousecollective.org/?p=6160 Beginning Monday, March 23, Hamilton County Department of Education will be repurposing their fleet of school buses and using these precious resources to deliver meals to students in Hamilton County during the COVID-19 public health crisis.
Our neighborhood school at Hardy Elementary is one of the local sites where the buses are loading the food. Hamilton County Schools is committed to supporting our students during this temporary school closure. They have activated buses to deliver meals across the county in addition to their school-based meal sites.

Buses will run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Bus riders are limited to 2-3 volunteers on each bus to assist the driver with handing out meals at each drop off location.

Can you help? HCDE is calling for volunteers to help with this effort if it is safe for you and you are able. Volunteers MUST register in advance. HCDE asked that volunteer please not show up to one of the distribution hubs without registering first. The number of people on each bus is limited so that safe distancing practices can be maintained. Individuals interested in volunteering at this time please sign up at this link.

Metropolitan Ministries is Here To Help http://www.glasshousecollective.org/metropolitan-ministries-help-2/ http://www.glasshousecollective.org/metropolitan-ministries-help-2/#respond Fri, 10 Jan 2020 19:57:34 +0000 http://www.glasshousecollective.org/?p=6048 Winter months can be an especially rough time to have a financial emergency. For families and individuals in need of emergency financial or food assistance, there are local resources worth checking into.

Metropolitan Ministries (MetMin) have been working in Chattanooga for nearly 40 years. They provide emergency assistance on a first-come – first-served basis. The MetMin doors are open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to discuss requests for help. There are great needs all over our city so the first 35 individual requests that come to their doorstep each day are heard. Wednesdays are reserved for individuals age 62 and older.

Understanding that each person’s situation is unique, Ministry staff and volunteers recommend emergency financial assistance on a case-by-case basis.

Rent Help: available only from the 1st-15th of each month.
Electric Help: available only from the 15th-end of each month.
Food & Other Utility Help: available all month on Mon, Tues & Wed.

If you need help now please call 423-624-9650.

Homeownership Opportunities for Glass Farm Residents http://www.glasshousecollective.org/homeownership-opportunities-glass-farm/ http://www.glasshousecollective.org/homeownership-opportunities-glass-farm/#respond Fri, 13 Dec 2019 21:14:16 +0000 http://www.glasshousecollective.org/?p=6020 Glass Farm residents are eligible for special financing for home purchases, and refinancing for neighbors who already own their homes. Thanks to the Pinnacle 100 program offered by Pinnacle Financial Partners, our neighborhood is among several in Chattanooga where this special financing program is now offered.

Charles Millirons, Jr. , Pinnacle’s Chattanooga senior VP and financial advisor, recently stopped by the Glass House Collective offices to tell us about the Pinnacle 100 program. Millirons explained that the program is specifically designed for first time homeowners who want to purchase a home as their primary residence; and for current homeowners who are staying in their home but interested in refinancing.

“There are no income limitations for the Glass Farm area residents who qualify and no down payments required through the Pinnacle 100 program,” he said.

Other program criteria include:

  • – Credit score minimum of 620
  • – Alternative credit references accepted such as utility bills and other payments in good standing
  • – No private mortgage insurance required (PMI)
  • – Seller may cover all of the borrower’s closing costs, prepays and escrows
  • – 30-year mortgages for primary residences only
  • – Purchases and refinance options available
  • – No downpayment required
  • – No income limitations

If you’ve been thinking about moving from home renter to homeowner this could be the program for you.  Find out if the Pinnacle 100 program is a good fit and give Charles a call in his downtown office: 423-386-2636
