✨ We hope to see you at some point this Saturday. We have a jammed packed day full of free backpacks, an incredible African American Hair is Art Expo, and an art exhibit featuring youth's portraits from summer camps this summer all along Glass Street.
Overwhelmed by the goodness? We are going to start our day off at Ashantis, stop by Hardy, and then head to the We are ART! Exhibit at the new LOVE park in front of Save-a-Lot and then back to Ashanti's for the live hair demonstration until 2pm.
Please help us spread the word.

There is a 100% chance of rain on Saturday so we have decided to move our celebration to Sunday, April 25th from 12p-4p.
We still have the 🔥 live music line up thanks to @soundcorps.
Bring your wheels or rent some skates (for free if you are 18+) from @moonlightroller to skate on the mural.
Save-a-Lot will be providing other vendors, food trucks, activities.
Excited to see Scenic City Angels and Reach1Teach1 and neighborhood kids help us paint some clouds to the mural on Sunday too.
So much goodness — we won’t let the rain stop us! See y’all Sunday!

“Rhythm of Life” is the poetic vision of the Through Glass Documentary. The poem by Velvet Poetry was created from interviews from 23 of the families interviewed and photographed by Reed Schick Photography and @davygeee. All of the individual lines created one beautiful poem that she shares in the video (full poem can be read on the website). Summer Dregs mixed the audio from all the raw interviews (birds chipping, basketballs dribbling, trains, dirt bikes, front porch acapella by 2 Deep Within) into the soundtrack for this video. This collaboration among neighbors and artists created a beautiful ‘sound poem’ about our community during COVID-19. This community driven and artist-led project started as Pandemic Portraits and quickly became a multi-media time capsule. Big thanks to the incredibly talented team of artists and neighbors. BLOG TAKEOVER! Many of you are regular readers of Collectively Speaking, the Glass House Collective blog about our work and our neighbors. Today, we are turning the keys over to Erika Dionne Roberts, Glass House Collective's Creative Strategist, for her new series, "Blog Takeover +Reflection." Erika is a creative force. With words written and spoken, she brings power to her art using her strongest tools: language and love. In the first installment of the takeover series, Erika gives us a look into what it’s like to be a collaborator forced to work from a distance during a global pandemic. Enjoy. http://www.glasshousecollective.org/blog/

Our team is doing all we can to stay as safe as possible during this pandemic. We miss working together in the office, but we are thankful for our health and our collective ability to continue our work. Our Ampersand Photography took some recent headshots of our crew for our new website. More photos to come, but first - mask headshots.

Today is the last workshop for our SWAY participants! SWAY – The People’s Guide To Community Organizing is a workshop training, developed by longtime community organizer, Michael Gilliand with CALEB, and Chattanooga spoken word and social justice artist, Erica Roberts. It is designed to spark new relationships, develop new leaders and help individuals come to an agreement around collective community goals. The aim is to increase the community’s capacity to create change. The group is launching into their project phase now! We can't wait to see what they come up with!

"Milestone! Today, Rondell and I finished "Larry" the first in a series of various figures for a mural at Glass Street. It's 12 ft. high, painted, with a knitted shirt (it will be in the same site as the "Trolley" used to be)"-- Olga de Klein
We're very excited to see the knit addition to this already stunning piece! So thankful for the heart and talent you invest in this community. ❤️

We had a great time with Joel DeFoor on Glass Street today. He is commissioning a coat rack for his office downtown. This commission will be a one of a kind functional art piece designed by Rondell Crier and built by two youth from the East Chatt community. #workforcedevelopment #partnerships #bankersandartists

Ms. Richie lives on North Chamberlain and has been smiling ever since 9am. She's tickled that her project turned out so well. She worked with Rondell Crier Design and a group from Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel to build and install new planter boxes at a busy intersection. She's so thankful for all the volunteers that came out today to beautify Glass Street and our surrounding partners and businesses!
